Prayer to be Merciful

As Vincentians, we are called to be the hands and feet of Christ here on Earth.  St Faustina's prayer is a beautiful reminder to the kindness and mercy we are called to show our fellow neighbors.

Please support the Frisco chapter of St Vincent de Paul as we carry out our mission of kindness, charity and mercy.

Prayer to be Merciful

Written by Saint Maria Faustina

"O Lord. I want to be completely transformed into Your mercy and to be Your living reflection. May the greatest of all divine attributes, that of Your unfathomable mercy, pass through my heart and soul to my neighbor.

Help me, O Lord, that my eyes may be merciful, so that I may never suspect or judge from appearances, but look for what is beautiful in my neighbors’ souls and come to their rescue.
Help me, that my ears may be merciful, so that I may give heed to my neighbors’ needs and not be indifferent to their pains and moanings.
Help me, O Lord, that my tongue may be merciful, so that I should never speak negatively of my neighbor, but have a word of comfort and forgiveness for all.
Help me, O Lord, that my hands may be merciful and filled with good deeds, so that I may do only good to my neighbors and take upon myself the more difficult and toilsome tasks.
Help me, O Lord, that my feet may be merciful, so that I may hurry to assist my neighbor, overcoming my own fatigue and weariness. My true rest is in the service of my neighbor.
Help me, O Lord, that my heart may be merciful so that I myself may feel all the sufferings of my neighbor. (...)

May Your mercy, O Lord, rest up on me" (Diary #163)

Happy Mother's Day

Dear Lord, today we turn to you to give you thanks for our mothers.

With your own gift of life, she bore me in her womb and gave me life. She tenderly, patiently cared for me and taught me to walk and talk. She read to me and made me laugh. No one delighted in my successes more; no one could comfort me better in my failures. I am so grateful for how she mothered me and mentored me, and even disciplined me.

Please bless her, Lord, and comfort her. Help her loving heart to continue to love and give of herself to others. Strengthen her when she is down and give her hope when she is discouraged.

Most of all, Lord, on this Mother's Day, give my mother the graces she most needs and desires today. I ask you this, in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior, now and forever - Amen.

The Impact of St Vincent de Paul

Each and every week, St Vincent de Paul provides assistance to those in need in and around Frisco. In 2016, St Vincent de Paul provided $126,754 in assistance to over 200 families.

While we are a Catholic lay organization, we provide assistance to all those in need, regardless of ethnic or religious background.

By way of example, for the week of April 13th, 2017, here is a summary of the assistance St Vincent de Paul was able to provide:

  1. Provided rent assistance for a single mother who's working hours were cut.  This prevented her from being evicted from her apartment.

  2. Provided assistance with rent for a single mother who is on unemployment.

  3. Provided assistance with rent for a single mother who recently lost her job and has applied for unemployment, but is not yet receiving any payments.

  4. Provided assistance with Electric utility for a single mother who had her money stolen.

  5. Provided rental assistance for a family who had suffered a financial setback after a car accident.

  6. Partnered with Frisco Family Services to provided assistance with Rent and Electric for a single mother who's unemployment claim was denied.

For the above cases, St Vincent de Paul provided $3,696 in assistance for 6 adults and 9 children.

Won't you join us in helping those who are in need?  Our organization is 100% volunteer, and we first meet with each client face-to-face to assess how to best help their situation. In addition to prayers, we are often able to connect them with additional assistance beyond what meager assistance we can provide.
